Every Earth Day is an opportunity to give back to the landscapes and communities we care about most. This year, Solstice Landscaping partnered with local organizations: Gallatin Valley Land Trust, Eagle Mount Bozeman and the City Of Bozeman to complete major trail improvements on the Softball Field Loop trail system in Bozeman, Montana.

What started as a community trail restoration project turned into a full-scale team effort focused on accessibility, sustainability, and creating better outdoor experiences for the entire community.

Earth Day Trail Restoration

A Full-Team Effort for Earth Day

For Earth Day, Solstice Landscaping donated:

  • 21 paid team members
  • 3 managers
  • 2 mini skid steers
  • 1 full-size skid steer
  • 1 dump trailer
  • 3 plate compactors
  • A large collection of professional landscaping tools

Our crews spent the day restoring heavily worn sections of trail after a harsh Montana winter season. The goal was simple: create smoother, safer, and more accessible trails for the community to enjoy.

What Went Into the Trail Restoration

This project involved approximately 1,400 linear feet of trail improvements. Crews installed and compacted crusher fines to improve the trail surface and increase durability.

The process included:

  • Delivering and spreading approximately 50 yards of crusher fines
  • Coordinating multiple truck and material loads for efficiency
  • Compacting the trail surface for long-term performance
  • Repairing damaged and uneven sections of trail
  • Improving accessibility for adaptive trail users and families

By the end of the day, the east-side trail system was significantly improved and ready for community use heading into spring and summer.
